Mysterious Transmissions is the combined mass of comic book self-publishers Colin Panetta and Mark Velard. Both artists’ work is an attempt to recreate the strangest parts of their subconscious in the most finely crafted images they are capable of rendering, in order to create equal parts entertainment and befuddlement on the part of the reader.
Colin Panetta’s haunted-science fiction series Dead Man Holiday has been called “a surreal sojourn through a bleak world of wild science and spooky creatures” by ComicNews.Info, and has also received positive reviews from The Comics Reporter, Broken Frontier and The Comics Journal. Panetta is also an accomplished illustrator whose work has been featured by MixNMojo.com, the Sarasota Film Festival and Publisher Weekly’s The Beat.
Mark Velard currently has two comics to his credit. Future Space is a futuristic parody of the perilous state of leisure time in the traditional mini-comic format. Bang! Pong! Pow! is billed as an “Action-packed power fantasy… with balls”, and delivers on that promise perhaps a bit too literally.
For sale at Paint & Pixel Festival: Colin Panetta’s graphic novel Dead Man Holiday and collaborative anthology Not Comics #1, and Mark Velard’s Future Space and Bang! Pong! Pow!, and an assortment of posters and trinkets lovingly assembled moments before the show.
